🎢 It's a Beautiful Day in the Neighbourhood 🎢

Went for a walk early this morning. A white-throated kingfisher greeted me rather noisily. My neighbourhood is the result of no oversight plan or strict building code. This is not a gated community. The main "road" is basically a single lane with alleys joining it rather randomly. It contains a range of property values. What I like about it is that everyone is friendly and there seems to be no judgement by locals about status. Not sure if that stems from Communist doctrine, Buddhist values or just the nature of the Viet people. It is so encouraging to see considering what's going on in the States and other countries.

The main road....

My alley....

The Love Villa (below) fronts the main road at the end of my alley. Because my alley isn't named, I tell locals who ask how long and where I'm staying, and Uber (SE Asian equivalent of Uber) drivers that I'm beside the Love Villa. Females often say coyly, "Oh you must be romantic!" (I think they want to sell me something πŸ˜‰). My usual response is, "Depends on who you ask." To one elderly jovial lady who winked when she said the line, my answer before the brain edit kicked in was, "Come wiz me to da' Casbah!" in a low growly voice. Oh crap, this may end badly I winced. Her immediate response was "You want to buy a melon?" πŸ˜‚

My neighbour's garden. Always a smile and a hi from whichever family member is working it...

Another alley....

I have shrimp farms on both sides of me, several properties away in both directions.

The local stream is affected by the ocean tides....

A private mini banana plantation....

Grand and not so grand homes....

Resorts.....

A Buddhist temple.....

Last night there was a break in the rain so I scooted towards the beach and fave restaurant #2. My first sip of coffee startled me because it was sooooooo good. I asked what brand it was. The family has a small coffee plantation in the northern mountains and process the beans themselves. I'll see if they'll sell me some. Just before I left it started to pour again. I had my poncho but had to change my shorts and undies when I got home. 😝

Lunch today at a street stall was crispy noodles with a melange of meats and a few veggies. Was delish.

Saw some random interesting sights.

Pete Milroy, if you want to unretire....

Of course someone had to think of this....

Dry season.....

Rainy season.....

I got a shot of the crescent moon and Venus the other night. And a river shot.

Thanks for being my neighbour on today's blog. πŸ‘Œ
